What is ADHD?

ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a common neurodevelopmental condition that affects millions of children, often continuing into adulthood. It’s characterized by patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that can impact performance in school, social relationships, and day-to-day activities.

Common Symptoms of ADHD

ADHD symptoms typically fall into two categories—inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity. Children may show signs such as:

• Inattention: Trouble staying focused, disorganization, forgetfulness, difficulty following instructions.
• Hyperactivity: Constant movement, excessive talking, restlessness, difficulty staying seated.
• Impulsivity: Interrupting others, difficulty waiting their turn, blurting out answers or comments.

Some children may present with predominantly inattentive symptoms (formerly referred to as ADD), others with hyperactive-impulsive behaviors, or a combination of both.
